My girl friends are my soul sisters. Always there for me whenever I need them.Though I have very good guy friends too (Dont read Boy friends here). Whenever I am feeling low or I am upset, it is sort of magical that my girl friends sense it and call me up. Its absolutely mind-boggling rather spooky..
Being a girl, no matter how much you relate or gel with guys, only a girl can understand your pains, what you are going through? No matter how much a guy claims to understand you and relate to you but he cannot empathize with you. He can only sympathize. And a girl will always empathize with you and think of solutions for your problem. A guy friend will only suggest or maybe just say that I understand but in actuality, will only say it to make you feel better.
Anyway, what would life be without female friends? Imagine no talk of shopping, parties, movies, heartaches, break-ups,heroes, above all GOSSIPING. How boring indeed?
We certainly need our female friends and I am proud of all my female friends and glad to be one myself..
Three cheers to girl power..
We cant choose our relatives but we can choose our friends.
Its a blog dedicated to all female friends of mine.

Romancing the monsoon
"The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
How true?? Why cant we just let the rain pour?
These days newspapers, websites, blogs etc are inundated with the aftermath of incessant rains. Last sunday read an article in HT Brunch on how the author was comparing London rains to Indian Monsoon.
I echo her sentiment and feel that Monsoon season carries its own charm. I reminiscise how we as kids used to make paper kites and race them against the others and the next day the drains used to be clogged with soaking wet paper.
I simply love monsoon season. The very smell of wet mud, the feel of rain drops, the touch of wet clothes. The whole idea is so romantic. Imagine walking with your loved one holding hands, getting wet, stealing a kiss under umbrella...its so romantic.
And the best part about monsoon season is driving in the rain and going for a long drive :)The swooshing sound of car vipers, the caoutic scenes and serpentine queues of cars. The best part about being stuck in traffic jams due to downpur is that you get to listen to lovely songs on fm, breathe good fresh air, test your driving skill and patience..Overall i love monsoons..
"Rain is grace; rain is the sky condescending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life."- John Updike
I end up with a food for thought:-
"Without rain, there would be no rainbow"

My favourite story
Have you ever visualized yourself while reading a book. Well, it has happened to me. Thought the ordeals, circumstances are way too different but i cant help but identify myself with the lead.
The book that I can relate to in so many ways - Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.
"'Gone With the Wind' is indeed one of the most well written romance novels. Set in the backdrop of the American Civil War in the eighteen century, it tells the story of Scarlett O'Hara who fought for survival during the War and the Recontruction Period through sheer wit and smart business methods. In every circumstance, she defied every expectation that was demanded of her, yet one can say that she was courageous enough to fight for the survival for her and her family through ways and means. Even though her methods were not acceptable in those days, she was least bothered by the opinions of social circle.
This is a story of love, of loss, and of courage. It is by far the greatest story ever written. We follow Scarlett O'Hara from her carefree childhood, into a war that causes nothing but pain and fear. We watch Scarlett get married three times. We observe Scarlett's battle against external and internal conflicts, her losses, gains, and hopes."
We see Scarlett as she loses it all, and vows to get it all back. And she does.

Friends are a bliss
Well..before I start writing..I wish to thank all my friends..
I am happy in life..I made such wonderful friends..I may not speak to them for days, meet them for days/maybe months, write to them but the moment I need them, they are there...Often in life, we dont realize the value of a good friend..but some incidents/speed breakers in the journey of life, make us realize..
I recently went on a trip to Norway for official purpose. But the gain was not just on professional front. I gained immensely on personal ground. I came across a wonderful person..who is so pure, inteligent, logical and simple. We instantly hit it off and connected mentally at all fronts..at one point i thought I have a carbon copy..my duplicate..Ofcourse, there were differences but the attitude and the approach to life is so accurate. I learnt so many things from this friend..to be humble in achievement, to be clear in thought & perspective, to respect a person and to be flexible to ideas. I feel so completely refreshed, charged and intellectually stimulated and happy meeting this friend.
I dont want to discount the fact that I missed all my friends back in India too..I realized in Oslo that I have such good friends..who stand by me, want the best out of me, rightly critical yet caring and loving..and really protective :). Good or bad, friends stand by you..I feel completely at ease with my friends..I dont have to pretend in front of them..Your friends accept you the way you are..You can be yourself without the fear of being judged..
Also, one of my close relatives is in the second childhood stage. Totally lonely, her companion died few years back, kids are caught up with their family and issues, she is depressed and sad that no one really wants her. Sadly, she doesnt have any friends..
Thank God you gave friends..who are there for you..who stand by you..and who understand you..
So, go out make more friends..and remember to make a friend..we have to close one eye...to keep the friend..we have to close both eyes..
Friendship is for keeps..
